Perfect score! Good job! Keep practicing. Keep studying — you can do better!
Choose the correct word order: ___ (Morgen / ich / gehe / ins Kino)
V2 rule: the conjugated verb is always in second position. When a time expression ('morgen') is first, the subject moves after the verb (inversion).
Fill in: Leider ___ er heute nicht kommen.
V2 rule: 'Leider' is in position 1, so the verb 'kann' must be in position 2, followed by the subject 'er'. Unfortunately, he can't come today.
Choose: Im Park ___ die Kinder gestern Fußball.
'Im Park' is in position 1 → the verb must be in position 2: 'spielten'. The subject 'die Kinder' follows. This is inversion after a non-subject first element.
Fill in: Gestern ___ ich einen alten Freund getroffen.
Perfekt tense with Satzklammer: the auxiliary 'habe' is in V2 position, and the past participle 'getroffen' goes to the end. Yesterday I met an old friend.
Choose: Wann ___ der Zug in München ___? (ankommen, separable)
Separable verbs form a Satzklammer: the conjugated part 'kommt' stays in V2, the prefix 'an' goes to the end. When does the train arrive in Munich?
Fill in: Er hat gestern das Buch ___.
In Perfekt, the past participle goes to the end (Satzklammer). Separable verbs form one word as a participle: 'zurückgegeben'.
Choose the correct order: Ich fahre ___ nach Berlin. (TeKaMoLo)
TeKaMoLo: Temporal (morgen) before Modal/Instrumental (mit dem Zug) before Lokal (nach Berlin). I'm going to Berlin tomorrow by train.
Fill in: Er kommt heute ___.
'Nicht' negates the verb and typically goes at the end when there's no specific element to negate. He's not coming today.
Choose: Ich gebe ___ morgen.
When both objects are pronouns, accusative comes before dative: 'es (acc.) ihm (dat.)'. When one is a noun: dative before accusative ('ihm das Buch').
Choose: Ich weiß, dass er morgen nach Berlin ___.
In subordinate clauses (dass, weil, ob...), the conjugated verb goes to the very end. 'Dass er morgen nach Berlin fährt.'
