Aufgaben 1–10

Choose the right answer for each question.

(real condition)

Why: 'Wenn' introduces real conditions in the present/future (Indikativ). If it rains tomorrow, we'll stay home. Both 'wenn' and 'falls' work, but 'wenn' is more common.

  2. Question 2: Choose: Wenn du fleißig lernst, ___ du die Prüfung. (real condition)

Why: Real conditions use Indikativ (Präsens) in both clauses. 'Bestehst' is present tense. If you study hard, you'll pass the exam.

(unreal present)

Why: Unreal present conditions use Konjunktiv II. 'Sein' → 'wäre'. If I were rich, I would travel the world.

Why: Unreal present: Konjunktiv II of 'haben' = 'hätte'. If I had more time, I would exercise more often.

If I had known that, I would have helped you.

Why: 'Aufstehen' uses 'sein' as auxiliary. Unreal past: 'wäre + aufgestanden'. If he had gotten up earlier, he wouldn't have missed the train.

(wenn-omission)

Why: When 'wenn' is omitted, the verb moves to position 1: 'Wäre ich du, ...' instead of 'Wenn ich du wäre, ...'. If I were you, I wouldn't do that.

Why: Verb-first conditional (wenn-omission) with 'kommen' (uses sein): 'Wäre er früher gekommen, ...' Had he come earlier, we could still have eaten.

  9. Question 9: Fill in: ___ du Fragen hast, kannst du mich jederzeit anrufen.

Why: Both 'wenn' and 'falls' work for real conditions. 'Falls' emphasizes that the condition may or may not happen. Both: If you have questions, you can call me anytime.

  10. Question 10: Which type of conditional is this?

Why: 'Hätte gewusst' and 'wäre gekommen' = Konjunktiv II Plusquamperfekt in both clauses. This is an unreal past condition — the event didn't happen.
