Aufgaben 1–10

Choose the right answer for each question.

  1. Question 1: Fill in: ___ Buch ist sehr interessant. (this, neuter)

Why: 'Das Buch' is neuter nominative. 'Dieser' declines like the definite article: neuter nominative = 'dieses'. This book is very interesting.

  2. Question 2: Choose: Ich nehme ___ Jacke hier. (this, feminine)

Why: 'Die Jacke' is feminine. 'Nehmen' takes accusative. Feminine accusative = 'diese'. I'll take this jacket.

  3. Question 3: Fill in: ___ muss in Deutschland eine Krankenversicherung haben.

Why: 'Man' means 'one/people in general'. It's used for general statements. One must have health insurance in Germany.

  4. Question 4: Choose: Das kann ___ wirklich ärgern. (accusative of 'man')

Why: 'Man' has special forms: accusative = 'einen', dative = 'einem'. That can really annoy one/you.

  5. Question 5: Fill in: Kennt hier ___ einen guten Zahnarzt?

Why: 'Jemand' means 'someone/anybody'. Does anyone here know a good dentist? In colloquial German, 'jemand' often doesn't decline.

  6. Question 6: Choose: ___ hat angerufen, aber er hat seinen Namen nicht gesagt.

Why: 'Jemand' (someone) fits — an unknown person called. 'Niemand' would mean nobody called, which contradicts the second clause.

  7. Question 7: Fill in: Möchtest du ___ Kaltes trinken?

Why: 'Etwas' + capitalized adjective is a common pattern: 'etwas Kaltes' (something cold). Would you like to drink something cold?

  8. Question 8: Choose: ___ Schüler muss die Prüfung machen. (every)

Why: 'Der Schüler' is masculine nominative. 'Jeder' declines like 'dieser': masculine nominative = 'jeder'. Every student must take the exam.

  9. Question 9: Fill in: Hast du einen Stift? – Nein, ich habe ___.

Why: 'Der Stift' is masculine. 'Haben' needs accusative. Masculine accusative = 'keinen'. As a pronoun, 'keinen' replaces 'einen Stift'.

  10. Question 10: Choose: ___ waren bei der Party. vs. ___ war perfekt organisiert.

Why: 'Alle' (everyone) refers to people → plural verb 'waren'. 'Alles' (everything) refers to things → singular verb 'war'. Everyone was at the party. Everything was perfectly organized.
